Bob Reeves, Executive Director
Bob's involvement with the Science Factory began in 1998 as the Lane Education Service District Foundation's founding treasurer and supporter of our Planetarium. His management experience ranges from working in President Carter's administration to serving as founder and board chair of the Lane Business Education Compact and current chair of Eugene Neighbors, Inc. He also has extensive local finance, marketing, and business development experience with two of the Science Factory's corporate partners SELCO and Northwest Community Credit Union. Bob's goal is to "creatively engage our entire community to sustain and enjoy the benefits of Lane County's only Planetarium and 'hands-on' science museum."

Sue Peterson, Planetarium Director
Sue brings to the Science Factory more than 20 years of planetarium experience. She moved here from the Mayborn Planetarium in Killeen, Texas, and prior to that was the director at the Casper Planetarium in Casper, Wyoming and at the Kansas City Museum Planetarium in Kansas City, Missouri. She has authored more than 80 published articles about astronomy.

Jennifer Bell, Marketing Director
Jennifer was born and raised in the Eugene area, and is graduate of the
University of Oregon Journalism School. Following graduation, Jennifer
spent the next ten years working in advertising in San Francisco. She
worked on a variety of brands, including Visa USA, Old Navy, California
Pizza Kitchen, and Dell Computer. Since returning to Eugene, she has been
a marketing consultant and community volunteer. Jennifer also serves on
the Board of Directors for CASA of Lane County.

Kevin Kurtz, Education Director
Kevin holds degrees in both English and elementary education. He has worked as a research assistant in a marine biology laboratory and, for most of the past decade, as an environmental educator for organizations such as the South Carolina Aquarium and the Center for Birds of Prey. He is also a children’s author whose first book A Day in the Salt Marsh was published in 2007. At the Science Factory, Kevin will be coordinating, teaching and developing education programs for children, families and school groups.

Jennifer Shelton, Educator
Jen is a Eugene/Springfield native and certified teacher from Pacific University. Jen currently teaches all of our YES/YEA Day activities & can sometimes be seen at special events, summer camp or other programs.

Kristin Anderson, Educator
Kristin Anderson has her B.S. in Biology from the University of Oregon. She has taught science to elementary school children in formal and informal settings throughout Oregon and Washington. As an Educator, Kristin plans and implements our Tot Discovery Days, birthday parties, special events and assists with volunteer coordination.

Kim Miller, Program Assistant
Kim was born and raised in eastern Washington and spent time in New York and Tennessee before moving to Eugene to attend graduate school at the University of Oregon, where she earned her Master's degree in Environmental Studies. She has worked and volunteered with various environmental organizations in the Eugene area and was a docent at the UO Museum of Natural and Cultural History for several years. At the Science Factory, Kim handles administrative matters and assists with visitor services, education, fundraising, and other programs.

Stephanie Barber, Visitor Services Assistant
Stephanie has been working with children for nearly ten years. She started volunteering with kids when she was in high school in western New York, then spent four years working for Amazement Square Children's Museum in Lynchburg, VA, and has been a teacher’s assistant. She received her B.S. with Elementary Education teacher licensure from Liberty University in Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Stephanie is currently a master’s student at UO earning her Special Education license, with a particular interest in autism. At the Science Factory, Stephanie covers the front desk, assists with birthday parties and field trips, and works with volunteers.

Lindsey Hansen, Visitor Services Assistant
Lindsey moved to Eugene from Los Angeles to attend the UO and received her BA degree in Art with an emphasis in Printmaking. She previously interned at Maude Kerns Art Center, another local nonprofit. She has been a camp counselor for many years, as well as a classroom, studio and exhibits assistant. She loves working in a hands-on learning environment, especially at a place as fun as the Science Factory! |

Renegade, Iguana-in-Residence
Renegade is a green iguana. His species is native to Central and South America, but, proving that he is truly a renegade, this guy has made his home at the Science Factory for about seven years. He is roughly ten human years old and weighs about 7 pounds. Renegade enjoys leafy greens, being misted with water, and novels about the Old West. |

Summer Camp and After School Teachers
In addition to regular staff, the Science Factory employs camp counselors and after school program providers from a variety of disciplines. Many of our teachers are Oregon certified for the appropriate grade level. Many also teach at more advanced institutions like the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Linfield College, and Lane Community College.
