E-Newsletter July E-News, 2005 FUN-PACKED SUMMER CAMPS STILL HAVE A FEW SPOTS Our Summer Science Adventure Camps are popping with smiling kids spending their mornings and afternoons inside and out, discovering and learning. Some camps are filled and wait-listed. Each camp provides hands-on learning, creative problem solving and discovery! We still have many spaces in our "Sails and Trails" camp, designed for children in grades K-2. Design your own boat to float in our Discovery Ponds, located just outside the museum. Safety a must. A complete listing of all 48 camps can be found on our website. Download the Registration forms [pdf]. Campers range from grades K-8. Morning, afternoon or all-day! Opt for lunch before or after our half-day sessions. Our camps make the Science Factory more than a museum. Register today! DESIGN/BUILD: SCIENCE FACTORY STYLE One of our many goals is to make the Science Factory Exhibit Hall dynamic and ever-changing, so that visitors have a unique experience every time they come here. In that spirit, our Exhibits (Here and Now!) committee is currently hard at work, fashioning a series of three new exhibits. Composed of PSC Corporation interns, U-O Physics students and other interested parties, the Committee is constructing acoustic modeling, ferro fluid and infrared experimentation exhibits that should provide some interesting hands-on interaction exploring scientific principles. Look for these brand new exhibits in the weeks ahead. WIN FREE TICKETS TO CUTHBERT AMPHITHEATER FAMILY SHOW Our Alton Park neighbor, Cuthbert Amphitheater, is providing Science Factory members with some great opportunities for their upcoming Franklin the Turtle family concert, Friday, August 19 at 7 PM. First, any Science Factory member who purchases tickets to the Franklin the Turtle Class Concert show will be given a voucher for a free soft drink when they present a membership card at time of purchase. (Another Science Factory member benefit!) In addition, Cuthbert Amphitheater has generously donated three pairs of tickets for our own Science Factory raffle. When you come to the Science Factory, make sure you enter in our free ticket give-away for this event. Drawing will be held August 5, so come to the museum to take advantage of this special offer. Taylor Bortz and Nathan Clark join us as Admissions Clerks. They will be working at the front reception area, not only greeting museum visitors, but ensuring that visitors receive proper attention in the exhibit hall. Gay Check, a recent Eugene transplant, will be the Science Factory's new Office Manager. She has accumulated years of office experience and management and we look forward to her organizational skills being fully implemented in the museum. We hope to ensure that our new staff members' professional expertise will be incorporated to provide higher levels of efficiency and museum guidance for all visitors.
