MOVE ON FROM MEMORY LANE AT NEW PLANETARIUM SHOW "It's Not Your Grandma's Solar System" takes off into new planetary discoveries on Saturday, April 1 at 2 PM. Come delight in the homespun wisdom of Planetarium Director Sue Peterson as she leads visitors to the amazing leaps of discovery that have changed our thinking about the universe in the past 50 years. "Grandma" (as we are now calling this fascinating show) will take place every Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM until June. Admission, $4. Members, (such a deal) FREE! LET THE GAMES BEGIN…REGISTER FOR SUMMER CAMP TODAY! Summer camp registration is now available. Download your registration form from our website or stop by the museum to pick up your schedule, if you have not received one. Our Summer Science Adventure Camps are packed with old favorites and new topics to keep every camper engaged, excited and inspired! Kitchen Chemistry, Digital Photography, Brainstorm Challenge and more! Morning, afternoon or all-day camps available for maximum flexibility. Great for kids entering grades K-8. TOT DISCOVERY DAY FEATURES WILD THINGS CREATURE Last month, Clifford the Big Red Dog visited our wee ones on our First Friday Tot Discovery Day as the kids examined the concepts of big and small. Next Friday, April 7, visit with one of the wonderful creatures in Maurice Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are, courtesy of our friends at Barnes & Noble Book Store across from Valley River Mall. Our Tot Discovery Days continue to be the best bet for the smart, little set. For April, kids will be making paper flowers, building birds nest and more fun spring activities. $10 for each Tot/Adult pair, Members, FREE (again!). Museum opens early at 10 AM for children 5 and under ONLY. See attached flyer, and remember to visit Barnes & Noble on Saturday, April 7 at 11 AM for a story time of the classic Sendak tale. Also, our lucky winner for the Clifford Raffle held last month is...(drum roll) Nagappa Batikeri of Springfield! Congrats for winning a variety of Clifford items, including a stuffed animal, phonics book, $10 Barnes & Noble Gift Certificate and a gift certificate to our museum store. MORE BARNES & NOBLE FUN AVAILABLE Our friends at Barnes & Noble are doing even more to support the Science Factory. Mark your calendars now for June 10 - 17, the dates we will be given a portion of the proceeds from the store. Attached to this file is a voucher redeemable between those dates for any purchase made in the store. We've timed it perfectly to coincide with the week before Father's Day (the largest sales time of the year for the store), so consider buying Dad a nice book or CD from Barnes & Noble while you support the Science Factory at the same time. Vouchers will also be available at our Science Factory front desk and posted on our website. GET BUGGY WITH US ON BUG SCIENCE DAYS The sweet grass begins to grow, the daffodils start to bloom, and the underworld of bugdom begins life anew. Come discover the insect world with us for a special event on Saturday, April 8 from 12 Noon - 4 PM. Special visitor entomologist Lynn Royce will bring both live insects and display cases filled with a variety of bugs for kids to explore. We'll be making bug hats and going on a bug safari as well. New bug items in our museum store as well! Bug Science Day is included in the regular $4 admission price. We're so grateful to Signs of the Times (soon to be newly rehatched as "Imagine Design"), for helping to defray the costs of these wonderful new additions to our totable Science Factory gear. Thanks again, Signs of the Times for helping to support the work of the Science Factory.
