Splash! campers are building floatable box boats this week for launch
in the Science Factory's ponds, while Built It! counselor Zach Schneider-Lynch helps create a toothpick-gumdrop structure with his campers. Camp Volunteers Terrific We’ve had a superior group of camp volunteers this summer. Our instructors have been raving about the quality, care and diligence of the volunteers who have worked extremely hard with the children each day. We thank all the parents, teachers and community leaders who helped us identify and develop our camp volunteer program to its current level. Summer Help from Local Businesses – We’re Thrilled! The Science Factory’s entire educational staff would like to thank those at PC market of Choice on 29th and Willamette for their generous donations of materials to our Summer Camp program. These camps are full of hands on experiences and thanks to MOC we had more for kids to get their hands on. Camps such as Chemical Concoctions, Let’s Experiment and Splash! were helped to provide fun, kid centered, activities that will make memories and promote learning opportunities in science. Thanks again for your generosity and added efforts.| Many thanks to PC Market of Choice on 29th and Willamette for their generous donation of materials to our summer camp program. Kids this summer have more to get their hands on due to generous donations of food supplies that we used in our Chemical Concoctions camp and others. We appreciate all business involvement in the museum since we are a non-profit and rely on private donations to sustain our activities and programs. Speaking of donations, local landscape supplier Rexius has instituted a wonderful new program geared toward helping non-profits. Anytime you receive a delivery of Rexius products, simply designate the Science Factory as your non-profit of choice. A percentage of your order will be donated to the Science Factory. Gottschalks, a new moderately priced department store, opening at Valley River Mall, wants your participation in its Charity Shopping Day. By purchasing a $10 ticket from the Science Factory, you receive special discounts, giveaways, refreshments and entertainment on Thursday, August 31. The store is slated to open in the old location for Bon Marche , and is a full-line West Coast-based chain with 62 other stores in the region. All proceeds from ticket sales support the Science Factory and your shopping needs at the same time. Tickets are available at the Science Factory’s front desk. Public Service Announcement to Air on KVAL-TV More thanks are required! Science Factory Advisory Board member and KVAL-TV anchor Jennifer Winters has helped the museum to receive free advertising on the station. Science Factory member children participated in the taping and we hope that increased visibility for the museum will result in additional memberships, visitors and donors. Additional thanks go to Anne Olson and Chris Elliott of KVAL-TV for providing their talents to this endeavor. We hope you tune in and support KVAL-TV for their efforts. Plus, it will give you a chance to see some adorable children strut their stuff! Get Your Ducks in a Row! Your Spot is Waiting for You Season football parking passes are still available for the 2006 season, which is coming up very shortly. We’ve opened up some additional spots for RVs, so consider us your one-stop spot for Duck parking. A map of the parking areas and information about our Duck parking program is available on our website at www.sciencefactory.org. Talk to Kathy Loppnow for further information and pricing.
