METAMORPHOSIS: CHANGE FOR THE BETTER Our campaign to improve our museum space is kicked off this month with a project to remodel our back classroom. The classroom is the focal point for all of our hands-on activities, special events, classes and summer camps. It’s a virtual beehive of busy minds and bodies at work. But after 30 years of spilled experiments and heavy kid traffic, we think it’s time for an “extreme makeover.” Plans are afoot for new storage units, new flooring, new paint, new lights, a new child-friendly sink, new counters and more! We’ll be posting a preliminary architectural drawing and more information in the museum for visitors to take a peek and give us your feedback. If you read our newsletter, you already may be aware that SELCO Community Credit Union has generously come on board with a $10,000 pledge as a partnering sponsor of the project. And we’re thrilled to report that many others are following! As of the first week of October, the following sponsors have donated funds, pledges or materials to the project. CHANGES AT THE SCIENCE FACTORY Our Education Director, Tracey Edmundson, will no longer be at the Science Factory, effective this month. She was instrumental in working to upgrade the quality and direction of our teaching staff, special events, exhibits and many other aspects of museum administration. Many of her duties will be carried on by Science Factory Educator Jenn Shelton. We wish Tracey well in her new endeavors and know that the hard work she put in to the museum will lay the groundwork for future improvements to our educational programming.
